11-2-2008 So Long...
Well, another SugoiCon has come and gone. Thanks to all of our hard-working staff and our fantastic attendees - you've all made SugoiCon 2008 a great success! We hope everyone had a great time! Come back again next year for SugoiCon 2009 - the best is yet to come! So long everyone...
2008-10-21 Update: Con Floorplan Changes
A new convention floorplan has been uploaded to the website and is available for immediate download. Those with older copies of the floorplan need to get the updated PDF file to ensure that you have the latest changes to the con layout. This file download is available now on the Location page.
2008-10-13 Update: Guest Additions and Programming
We have more guests to announce! We're glad to have fan favorites Bob & Emily DeJesus rejoining us this year, and we're happy to announce a new addition in voice actor and artist Josh Grelle, of The Wallflower, Comic Party, and Utawarerumono!
Also, the convention will host a Friday evening Sugoi Ball this year! Bring your formalwear (anime-related, of course) and check out our Dance page for what to expect! Then join us for our traditional Saturday night Dance headlined by Greg Ayres and our own DJ Ed! SugoiCon is also featuring a Pajama Party for attendees Saturday night.
Last, be sure to visit our Location page for an updated site map. Please note: Some event locations HAVE CHANGED from last year, so download a copy of the hotel map and be sure you're prepared...because knowing is half the battle!

This event is so huge that we wanted to remind all of you about how cool it is, but only for a limited time.
the second live action Death Note movie, Death Note II: The Last Name, will be showing on Wednesday, October 15 and Thursday, October 16, 2008 at the Springdale Showcase Cinemas and the Regal Theatres in Mason's Deerfield Towne Center. 2008-10-9 Special Guest Update
We're happy to announce that several of our-and your-favorite guests are coming back to supplement our art and webcomics track, as well as, a couple of newcomers to SugoiCon! Joining us for Sugoi are:
Doug Smith - a reaver, a slayer, an artist and voice actor...a man of gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth ( www.dougsmithart.com )
Dan Hess - the much-too-modest creator of "Angel Moxie", "Realms of Ishikaze", and his latest comic, "Weesh" ( www.weeshcomic.com )
James Hatton - back for his second year with us, the creator of "In His Likeness" and his newest idea, "Rorschach" ( www.rorschachcomic.com )
We're also welcoming Richard and Shannon Townsend, of the webcomic Otaku no Yen ( www.otakunoyen.com ), to SugoiCon this year! They'll be meeting fans and participating in our webcomics panels.
Also returning is Ryan Gavigan, bringer of Anime Hell and Midnight Madness!
Unfortunately, we need to also announce that Hannah Alcorn has regretfully had to cancel, due to a schedule change. We wish her all of the best and hope to see her soon.

Unfortunately, due to family commitments, one of our voice actress guests, Brittney Karbowski, will not be able to join us this year. We wish her all the best, and hope to see her again in the future!

Tri-County Suncoast Anime Event
If you want to take a shot at winning a free, 3-day pass to the convention this year, join DJ ED at Animania, the next anime event from Suncoast in the Tri-County Mall, this coming Sunday, September 14, 2008! The event will be from noon to 6pm, and two weekend passes will be given away. SugoiCon staff will be there, and Suncoast will be offering great deals on your favorite shows! Join us for contests, music, and maybe a rogue Shinegami or two wandering around outside Hot Topic!

Special Movie Screening: Death Note II: The Last Name

Anime Music Video Contest
This just in from our Webmaster, the rules have been posted to the Programming page under the Music Video Contest heading. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the downloadable file. Please send any submissions or questions to CJ Phelan. CJ also informs us that the deadline for Music Video Contest submissions is Wednesday, October 1, 2008. Questions about the Adobe Acrobat Document file should be directed to the Webmaster at the link found earlier.
We'll also be posting info on the Anime Prom to our Programming pages, along with our staple Saturday night Dance.

We're happy to announce that SugoiCon will be returning to the Drawbridge Inn for 2008, and will return on Halloween weekend, Friday, October 31 through Sunday, November 2! Guests already confirmed include:

Voices For will return to perform tracks from their newest project, "Voices for Tolerance."
