Karaoke Rules
Hello, this is Touma, I'm the co-host of Karaoke along with Jaime/Shidohari and Air Guitar Mike. We've updated the rules and information for Sugoi-con 2006, based on reviewers' comments and several updates since the previous rules topic was posted. These are subject to change at any time, so if anyone has any questions or comments regarding them, please post them on the forum or contact the Live Programming staff.
***Remember, Karaoke is Friday night, Saturday night during Cosplay Judging, and possibly Sunday as well(we'll keep you posted!)***
1. The Third Annual Air Guitar Contest will be held on Saturday night during the Karaoke/Cosplay Judging. If you wish to participate, please be in the general vicinity of Karaoke. For more information, please see the AirGuitar Contest Topic Entry or contact the Live Programming staff. Practice those Air Riffs!!
2. The Kareoke Binder has been revamped with many more song lyrics; all lyrics must stay in their page protectors and go back in their location in the binder after use. The lyrics in the binder are all that we have during the Con.
3. The Lyrics Binder has been expanded with newer songs and updated submissions during the past year. But if you think we won't have the lyrics for your song(especially if it is very new or rare), please bring the lyrics you will need yourself. If you want to know if we have the lyrics you need, feel free to ask either on the forum postings or at the Con.
4. Please pick up your CD from us AS SOON AS YOU FINISH SINGING. We have had too many problems in the past where people leave their CDs with us after the song is finished. This can easily be confusing, since we are trying to sort CDs for upcoming singers, while finding CDs that were left with us. Also we don't want to lose your CD, especially if it's a favorite.
5. One method for possible song availability is Ipod hook-up; however, this is not definate. I will have a list of songs that I will post that is uploaded onto my ipod, but we are still working on whether only my ipod will work or anyone's ipod, or for that matter any MP3 device.(We will also keep you posted for this!) Best bet is to bring your songs on a CD.
6. There will be a five minute time limit on songs. This will be so that others may get to sing. Also, be prepared with a few alternative song choices if your song is "Banned", has been sung already that night(no one necessarily wants to hear 5 versions of the same song in the same night *_*), or longer then the time limit.
7. Kareoke can end at any time on Saturday due to when the Judges return to announce their decisions for the Cosplay Contest, as well as afterwards for setting up the Dance. Please be advised we will try to let everyone get their songs in before this happens. We are also working on having a Sunday Karaoke as well.
8. Dancing during your song is allowed, as well as group dancing, but bear in mind that the microphone cords have a limited range. Also, please be aware that there is VERY EXPENSIVE sound equipment in the area! So keep jumping to a minimum, please, unless you have a good idea where you're going to land. *_*
9. SMILE!! HAVE FUN!! We want as many people there as possible to contribute their voices to Kareoke. We love hearing from all of you. Therefore, booing is not allowed! Be considerate, for the singers are trying unfamiliar and difficult songs for the most part.
We can't wait to see you at the convention. Come to Karaoke...WE WANT YOU TO ROCK!!
