Registration Policy

Everyone who wishes to attend the convention must register with the convention prior to entering any of the convention functions.

If you are handicapped and need to register onsite but are unable to wait in line, special arrangements can be made. Please contact a Registration supervisor instead of getting in line, and they will determine your eligibility (and that of your escort/chaperone, if any) to move to the front of the line.

Registration Hours

Friday, Oct. 27 11am-8pm
Saturday, Oct. 28 9am-6pm
Sunday, Oct. 29 10am-2pm

An additional Thursday night pre-registration pickup (only) session MAY occur, if time and personnel allows, but is not guaranteed. If such a session is held, it will be announced on that day (and therefore most likely to benefit those staying Thursday night at the hotels).

Registration Types

  1. ADULT: Available in 3-Day and 1-Day versions.
  2. CHILD (0-10 years old): These badges are free, and are treated as 3-Day badges by default. There must be an Adult badge (of any duration) purchased for the adult who the child is attending the convention with (this can be a pre-registration badge, but the adult will have to go through normal registration to acquire the child's badge as well). Stickers with information linking the Child and accompanying Adult(s') badges will be placed on the back of both badges.
  3. PARENT/CHAPERONE: For those parents who will be attending solely to escort their children-meaning you have NO interest in SugoiCon yourself-we now offer a Parent/Chaperone badge. Parent/Chaperone badges are 1-Day or 3-Day badges that a parent or chaperone can purchase at a reduced rate when they buy a full-priced 1-Day or 3-Day badge for their child. Also, those attending specifically to aid/transport a handicapped attendee may also qualify for this badge type, at the Registration Department's discretion. Registration has the right to deny the purchase of a Parent/Chaperone badge to anyone they deem not meeting the requirements for such a badge.

Badge Pick-Up

SugoiCon is under no obligation to correct misspellings on badges. A badge must have the attendee's real name on it, with an option to add a nickname. SugoiCon reserves the right to reject offensive nicknames, and Registration supervisors have the final call on what names are acceptable or not acceptable. Remember that this is a family-friendly convention, with an average age under 20 for our attendees.

Badges may only be picked up by the person whose name is on the badge, with the exception of those issued to children (the parent can pick these up, to keep the children from having to wait in line). This applies to both onsite and before-con registrations. Exceptions may be made for those who purchased badges under the group rate-such exceptions will be all or none of the badges, and the person picking up the group's badges must be their authorized representative (that is, the party or parties who put the group purchase together), not just any member.

Lost Badges

If you lose your badge, try not to panic, and attempt to search the areas where you may have lost it before seeking replacement. If you find someone else's badge, we ask that you turn it in at the Information Desk (Registration or Convention Operations, if the Information Desk is unmanned), so that an attempt can be made to hold it safe for the owner to claim. In 2003, an attendee lost their badge several blocks from the convention site, while walking to a restaurant. They were able to recover the badge when a staffer, on their own food run, found it on the sidewalk after midnight Friday and brought it back. You'd want someone to do it for you, so do it for them.

If all fails, and you cannot find your badge, a replacement badge must be purchased like any other membership, at the cost of that membership. Optionally, you can purchase a 1-Day badge for Sunday, or for Saturday if you do not plan to attend Sunday, to replace a 3-Day badge and save money. If your original badge is later found, it is up to the Registration staff to determine your eligibility for compensation for the replacement badge (which must be turned back in), as well as the form that compensation may take.

The Registration as a Contract

By registering, the attendee agrees to follow SugoiCon's rules of conduct, which are described in the program book and elsewhere. SugoiCon reserves the right to withdraw the registration of any person or persons who fail to conduct themselves accordingly.
