Sugoi Con 2000: Programming and Events

Cosplay/Masquerade
Sugoi Con is going to do things a little differently from other conventions for this event. Rather than a stage show, this event will be run on a more casual level, with the cosplayers mingling with the convention crowd at a reception-style gathering. As the costumers walk around, socializing and showing off their hard work, judges will be wandering through the crowd, taking notes and making decisions with regards to prizes, which will be announced and awarded at the end of the evening. You do not need any sort of skit prepared to take part in this event -- most of the awards will be based solely on costume construction -- but there's nothing wrong with hamming it up a little for the judges and onlookers, either. Video Rooms
If you want to preview a new show, see an old favorite on a big screen, or just get tired of socializing, stop by our video rooms! We plan to show a wide variety of anime's best offerings including a few surprises. You'll be surprised at how much better a show can be when you watch it with an audience.

Guest, Fan and Industry Panels
Learn how the pros do it and why they keep doing it at the guest panels. Get into heated discussions about which character was the best or why your favorite anime show is better than someone else’s favorite anime show at a fan panel. Discover who has just attained the rights for the next big thing in anime or what the next big anime show on the horizon is, at an industry panel. Sugoi Con will bring you many of these different types of panels during the course of the con.

Anime Game Show: Otaku's Wild
Compete against other fans in this anime trivia contest and win fabulous (or at least pretty cool) prizes in the game where anime knowledge is king and lady luck is queen. Hosted by The Game Show legendary host Ryan Gavigan!

Workshops
Refine your skills at one of our workshops. Steve Bennett will be holding his very popular and always entertaining cel painting workshops throughout the weekend, and for 3-D enthusiasts, we'll have model building workshops hosted by the prolific and excellent Robert Cobb. The Haze-man will also grace us with his presence and his well known "How to Draw Comics the Manga Way" workshop.

Music Video Contest
Certain songs just seem to be written for a specific anime, and sometimes several different animes suit one song perfectly. If you have a terrific idea for an editing montage, then our music video contest in your chance to perform on the big screen! Send us your best work, within our minimal rules, and bask in your audience's adoration.

Video Game Room
Fight, dance, and race your fellow con-goers into submission in our video game room. We'll have the latest game systems from across the globe (including at least one Playstation 2!) to pick from. A number of tournaments, including Armored Core, Dance Dance Revolution (tenative), Street Fighter 3: Third Strike, Capcom vs SNK and more! We may even have a few special surprises! Prepare to take your game playing ability to the next level!
